Regarded as one of Vietnam’s most ethereal destinations, Sun World Fansipan Legend seemingly rests halfway between Earth and heaven. Featuring sweeping panoramic views, grand pagodas, and stunning Buddhist sculptures, visiting this site provides a near-transcendental experience where visitors can reflect, observe, and even shop while touching the peak of Fansipan.
The highest mountain in Vietnam, Fansipan Mountain rises 3,174 meters above sea level. The mountain was formed over 250 million years ago and remains an iconic part of Southeast Asia’s landscape.

Climbing Fansipan Mountain used to take 2 – 3 days, but now, with the aid of a cable car system, visitors can ascend to the summit in a matter of minutes. During the trip, you will witness spectacular views of the Hoang Lien National Park and the Muong Hoa Valley. After the 15-minute journey is over, which does come with a fee, visitors can catch a train to the very top of the mountain.
Attractions
Fantastic views aren’t the only thing that visitors can immerse themselves in. Remarkably, there’s an entire complex on top that features cafes, restaurants, shopping facilities, and beautiful spiritual attractions.
There are also numerous unique events and festivals that take place on the top of the mountain. These events range from wine tastings to flower shows to food festivals, ensuring there’s never a dull day on the summit of Fansipan Mountain.

One of the most iconic features of Sun World Fansipan Legend, the Great Buddha Statue has been welcoming the mountain’s visitors for years. Standing at a towering height of 21 meters, this behemoth is the highest-situated Buddha statue in the entire country. Powerful, spiritual, and so very Instagrammable, visiting the statue is an absolute must.
Bich Van Zen Monastery
This temple’s stunning architecture is located against a backdrop of clouds and endless skies. As the main place of worship, the Bich Van Zen Monastery is an important part of life on the mountain and its scenic setting will surely remind you of nature’s power over man.
Hospitality and Leisure
Sun World Fansipan Legend also offers plenty of leisure facilities. At Sapa Station, visitors can purchase a wide array of goods, artifacts, and souvenirs. The Sun Plaza Department store is the most major shopping facility at the station, whereas the Da Cham Shop (located at the foot of the mountain) and the Tuyet Tung Shop (found at Fansipan terminal) are slightly smaller, more niche shops.

Getting There
There are multiple ways to get to Sapa, including via motorbike, car, train, or coach. The easiest method of transport, however, is to get the train. From Hanoi, the overnight train sets off at 9 PM and arrives at Sapa at 6:30 AM. There are also a few coaches which offer an overnight journey.
If you’re determined to get there independently, then remember that Sapa is 360 km away from Hanoi, so prepare for a long journey!
